AMACS NX ShipBuilder™

AMACS NX ShipBuilder™ is the shipbuilding application of the AMACS platform, operating natively inside Siemens NX. It applies adaptive, datum-driven control to the realities of ship plate fabrication, module assembly, and yard-level integration.

Shipbuilding is fundamentally different from traditional manufacturing. Large steel plates and modules are fabricated in one environment, transported, staged, re-measured, and assembled in another—often with distortion introduced at every step. AMACS ShipBuilder is designed specifically to manage this reality.

AMACS ANCHOR™

Using AMACS Datums™ defined during fabrication, AMACS NX ShipBuilder enables ship components to be re-acquired, verified, and positioned accurately long after they leave the original work cell. These AMACS Datums allow plates, modules and sub-assemblies to be aligned relative to verified geometry rather than nominal CAD assumptions, improving fit-up accuracy and reducing rework at the yard.

The system is designed to integrate with robotic welding, scanning, and tracking systems used in modern shipyards, while remaining flexible enough to support mixed manual and automated workflows. Rather than replacing existing processes, AMACS NX ShipBuilder augments them with adaptive control, enabling incremental automation without disrupting production.

In practice, AMACS NX ShipBuilder allows shipbuilders to treat large structures with the same level of control and traceability traditionally reserved for small, fixtured parts—bringing digital continuity and adaptive execution to ship-scale fabrication. ANCHOR 4 AND 8 PACKS AVAILABLE.
